Soak 1 ¼ cup Rajma beans for at least 8 hrs in 1ltr of water. Or soak it over night so that it would be ready to cook by morning. Transfer the beans into a pressure cooker, add 2 ½ cup of water and 1 ½ tsp salt. Close the cooker with its lid and place it on high flame. Place the weight when the steam starts rushing out. Let one whistle blow. Now lower the flame and let 5 whistles blow. Allow the pressure to subside and then open the pressure cooker. Make surethe beans are cooked to fork tender condition.

Stage 2

While our beans get cooked, we can get a few things ready to prepare the sauce for beans. Take 2 tomatoes and blend them to a smooth paste. Keep it aside. Chop onions, ginger, garlic and coriander leaves. Keep all these things ready.

Stage 3

Now heat a kadai, pour oil. To the hot oil add bay leaves, fry it until the aroma comes out. Now add chopped onion. Sauté it until its raw smell goes.

Stage 4

Now add chopped ginger and garlic. Sauté them all very well until onion turns light brown color. Now add tomato paste and sauté it well so that it joins together.

Stage 5

It’s time to add our taste making spices now. Add salt, turmeric powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, cumin seed powder and red chilli powder. Mix them all very well and let the raw smell of all the spices go away.

Stage 6

Now add cooked beans along with the water used to cook and mix well. Let the curry boil very well and check for salt. Add coriander leaves and mix it well and let it boil for 1 minute. Now turn off the flame and transfer Rajma curry to a serving dish. Serve hot with your favorite food.
